MJ Freeway Is Down Due To Alleged ‘Attack’, Causes Chaos For Dispensaries Nationwide

Software platform, MJ Freeway is responsible for managing marijuana inventory and sales for more than 1,000 retail cannabis clients across many states. The software program crashed over the weekend causing problems for many marijuana dispensaries and retailers. The outage caused many recreational and medical dispensaries to close their doors on Sunday as a result.

While the company promises to have their services back up and running by monday or tuesday, the outage caused lengthy lines and customer complaints in the still operational businesses.

Believed to be caused by a ‘cyber attack of unknown origin’ the outage has had business owners struggling to find alternatives to the statewide compliance standards of sales and inventory tracking.

Because the outage hit the company’s main databases and backups, it is suspected by industry insiders to be a failure in their technology resources as opposed to a data breach. The company has stated that no client data was stolen.

MJ Freeway, to our knowledge, has not yet notified the police but intends to take the necessary steps to pursue a criminal case, if warranted.

The company has spoken to many clients and has support lines open for those businesses with questions and concerns. They plan on updating clients with emails every couple of hours.
