Almost 200 Patients Now Qualify for Medical Marijuana Registry in Georgia

Georgia Medical Marijuana

Georgia Medical Marijuana Registry

Public health officials in Georgia have now reported that almost 200 patients have qualified for the new medical marijuana registry, with and increase in the number of doctors that are approved as well.

These updates were given last week by the state commission on medical cannabis. In total, 166 doctors have been approved for its new registry that opened in June.

Some of the diseases that are covered by Georgia’s law are cancer, seizure disorders related to diagnosis of epilepsy or trauma-related head injuries. Also included are Lou Gehrig’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, sickle cell disease and others.

While patients are hopeful that that process will allow them to receive THC oil for treatment early next year, the entire process still remains confusing.

The state Department of Public Health has now partnered with the Georgia Composite Medical Board to develop the process for patients seeking doctors and treatment. Advocates are pushing the commission to continue to expand the law.
