Medical Marijuana Supporters In Pennsylvania Are Hopeful For A House Vote

Patients and activists for medical marijuana are hopeful that legislation will move through the PA House regardless of opposition.

Senate Bill 3 40 – 7, if passed, will create a medical cannabis licensing and dispensing program, a regulatory Board, and will allow permitted and qualifying patients access to medicinal cannabis products like oils and extracts.

SB 3 has been stalled in the Pennsylvania House despite overall support of the public.

Originally, the legislation was assigned to the Health Committee and chairman Matt Baker who is strongly and publicly against cannabis reform. He has stated on multiple occasions that he will not permit the bill to come up for vote in his committee. The bill has now been removed from the Health Committee.

Patients and medical marijuana hopefuls are now relying on the Rules Committee, chaired by Majority Leader Dave Reed, to discuss how to move forward with litigation on the bill.

If you live in Pennsylvania, please take a moment to contact your Pennsylvania legislators about this important Bill. Let them know that you support it. It is encouraged that you submit a personalized letter if you or a loved one could benefit from the legal access of medical marijuana.
